Integral controls
The integral controls contain switchgears, power supply unit, interface to the DCS. They automatically switch the actuator off, once the valve end position is reached, motor overheating is detected or a torque overload has occurred.
Connection to the control system is either made via parallel interface or Profibus DP.
Local controls (option)
The local controls allows local actuator operation. A push button is used to select the control mode, i.e. the operator defines whether the actuator is operated via the local controls or via the DCS.
If mounted where access is difficult, it is possible to mount the local controls separately from the actuator, connected via a cable.
Position indicator
Position indication provides local information on the current valve position.
Electrical connection
The electrical connection of power supply and power cables is made via plug/socket connectors with crimp type connection.
Motor
This special motor only requires approximately one-third of the height of an equivalent, conventional motor. This is a major contribution to the compact design of the actuator. The motor has variable speeds. Consequently, the starts and decelerations are smooth and gentle on the valve.
Gearing
The patented ellipto-centric gearing possesses a transmission ratio of 80:1 in one stage, housed within a confined area. This contributes considerably to the exceptionally reduced size of the unit.
High efficiency results in minimised heat generation.
Valve attachment
The valve attachment for mounting positioning on the valve is designed according to ISO 5211.
Coupling
The separate couplings transmits the torque applied to the valve shaft. During assembly, it is simply pushed onto the valve shaft and secured against axial movement. In the next step, the actuator or the gearing is placed onto the coupling and screwed to the valve flange. Upon request, the coupling is supplied with a suitable hole in accordance with the valve drive coupling.
Handwheel
Handwheel for emergency actuator operation in the event of power failure.
